If you’re looking for Mac OS compatible software, you can get a similar effect with Soundflower<\/a><\/b><\/span><\/p>

A common question that comes up from newer streamers is, \u201chow can I split my game audio and my voice chat?\u201d. By default, you can\u2019t accomplish this when you capture your computer\u2019s audio since you\u2019re essentially capturing everything at once. But there must be a way to do this, right? One way is through a \u201cVAC\u201d or Virtual Audio Cable. <\/span><\/p>

VAC\u2019s allow you to separate different audio sources from each other and then control which ones actually get fed into your stream. Maybe you\u2019ve got a producer that you don\u2019t want your stream to hear or maybe you just don\u2019t want your stream to hear your rowdy friends over Discord. VAC\u2019s are a great tool for accomplishing these needs and more.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Setting up a VAC is relatively straightforward but can be confusing for a first time user. First, you\u2019ll want to download the setup files<\/a><\/span> from VB-Audio\u2019s website. Once you\u2019ve downloaded the files, you\u2019ll want to run VBCABLE_Setup or VBCABLE_Setup_x64 based on if your PC is 32 bit or 64 bit in order to install the VAC driver.<\/span><\/p>

After installing, you\u2019ll want to go to the \u201cPlayback devices\u201d<\/strong> section of your Sound settings to find your shiny new VAC and to start getting it all set up.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Once there, you\u2019ll want to click on your VAC and hit the big, \u201cSet Default\u201d<\/strong> button at the bottom of the window.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Next, you\u2019ll want to click over to the Recording<\/strong> tab where you\u2019ll see another VAC. Right click on this cable, go to Properties<\/strong>, and then visit the Listen<\/strong> tab to finish your setup. Once there, you\u2019ll want to check the box labeled \u201cListen to this device\u201d<\/strong> and then select your headset or speakers of choice that you\u2019d like to hear your audio through.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

Now that you\u2019re all set up you\u2019re free to move on to one of the most popular application of VAC\u2019s, hiding voice communication programs from your stream. For this example, we\u2019ll be using Discord but the same process will work with whatever your voice chat of choice is.<\/span><\/p>

To make sure your voice chat is off stream you\u2019ll want to go into your Discord settings, open the Voice<\/strong> tab, and then set your Output Device<\/strong> to the headset or speakers you\u2019ll be using instead of the VAC you just set up. This will make it so that only you\u2019re able to hear your friends and their obscenities!<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
